Background

Siyaloba Training Academy is a registered skills development institution that presents and co-ordinates various training courses required by the Maritime Industry.

The courses offered at Siyaloba are accredited with SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) and with TETA (Transport Education & Training Authority). Siyaloba is also a member of APPEDT (Association of Private Providers and Education, Training & Development).

We are a non-profit community based training centre that is greatly committed to the fishers and the communities, through various outreach programmes. The training is very portable and we take it to the most remote areas where poverty is even more rampant.

Siyaloba has a great role to play in the development, upskilling and restructuring of the fishing industry and is committed to black empowerment and development of previously disadvantaged individuals, assisting them to empower themselves through knowledge and skills to take up their role in the new restructured fishing communities. We play an active role in supporting community initiatives, The National Sea Cadets, the Eastern Cape Social Development as well as Children’s Havens in communities.

Since its inception in 2000 the Training Academy has trained 15189 learners, both seafarers and personnel, for shore based sectors of the Maritime Industry.
